This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Seadelish collects when you read our recipes or interact with the site, why we collect it, and the rights you hold over it. We keep collection to the minimum the site actually needs.
Information we collect
- Information you give us – the name and email address you submit through a comment form, a newsletter sign-up, a contact message, or a recipe-submission form.
- Technical information – your IP address, browser and device details, the referring page, and the pages you request. This arrives automatically in our server logs and through analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies – described in detail in our Cookie Policy.
Why we process it
We use your information to publish and maintain the site, to answer messages you send us, to send a newsletter if you explicitly ask for one, to moderate comments, to understand which recipes are read so we can plan what to cook next, and to serve the advertising that pays for the kitchen time behind the recipes. Our lawful bases are consent for email marketing and non-essential cookies, legitimate interest for security logs and site analytics, and contractual necessity where you have asked us to provide a service.
Advertising and third parties
Seadelish displays advertising served by third-party ad networks and ad-tech companies. These partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads that match your interests, and to measure how an ad performs. They collect information about your visit and about other sites you have visited. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, advertising is limited to consent-based targeting; outside those regions, interest-based advertising may run under a legitimate-interest basis, and you can opt out as described below.
We may also share information with: our web host, which stores the site and its logs; our email provider, which operates the newsletter; analytics services that help us count readers; and, where the law requires it, competent authorities.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, a portable copy of the data you gave us, and you may object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. Under the CCPA and similar state laws in the United States you may request disclosure of the categories we collect, deletion, and you may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information; the ad-tech sharing described above is what opt-out refers to.
To exercise any right, write to [email protected]. We answer within thirty days. If you are in the EU or UK and believe we have mishandled your data, you may complain to your national data-protection authority.
Retention and security
Comments and their metadata are kept until the conversation is useful to readers, then removed. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the address is deleted within thirty days. Server logs roll after a short retention window set by our host. Emails you send us are kept as long as the thread remains relevant. Access to the administration of the site is limited to authorised staff, credentials are stored hashed, and the site is served over HTTPS.
Children
Seadelish is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. The date of the latest revision appears at the bottom of the page. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised policy applies.
